Robert Gay -
Robert Gay is a local artist who specialises in creating detailed paintings of well known Norfolk scenes. Brought up on a National Trust dairy farm, where he still has a studio, in the heart of the North Norfolk countryside, he followed the family farming business and spent two decades in this profession before feeling the need for a change and deciding to make more use of his natural artistic talent.
Instinctively his creative energies were drawn to nature and local landmark scenes. He paints scenes from the Norfolk countryside and towns he has grown up surrounded by. He began, significantly, by painting the National Trust property Blickling Hall, a landmark just a stone’s throw away from his farm. He has then gone on to study well loved scenes of Cromer, Holt, Sheringham and Aylsham and particularly the rural farmland surrounding both Blickling and Felbrigg.
Robert’s style is uniquely careful and detailed yet at the same time conveys a sense of the feeling and atmosphere of the place. Roberts paintings capture the beauty and openness of the landscape and inspire people to remember their visits and experiences here.
